We’ve got a tasty scoop for our readers with these bargains on ice creams & lollies

WE’VE got lockdown licked – as we ease the pain by treating ourselves to more ice creams and lollies.

You need not rack up the calories and spend loads of money, either.

Here are some tips . . .

LOTTA LOLLY: At £3 for 12 at Iceland, old-school favourite lollies Fabs are cheaper than chocolatey counterparts such as Magnums, which are £3.20 for four at Tesco. And they are only 82 calories a pop compared to 244 per Magnum. Other retro treats include Rowntree’s Fruit Pastilles Lollies at 54 calories, £3 for eight at Iceland.

SAVING: 20p plus up to eight more lollies

PROS AND CONES: Ben & Jerry’s birthday cake ice cream comes in at 272 calories per 86g serving, but Asda has released its tasty own-brand birthday cake-flavoured ice cream for just £2.50 with 196 calories for half a tub. Plus, it’s half the price of the same flavour from Halo Top, £5.

SAVING: £2.50

OFFER THE SHELF: Check out the offers usually to be found at the end of the freezer aisle. Oppo Low Calorie Colombian Chocolate & Hazelnut Ice Cream is £3, usually £4, at Sainsbury’s. At just 195 calories per half tub, what’s not to like?

’NANA THE EXTRA CALS: I am a huge fan of home-made banana ice cream. Simply peel and chop up a banana into chunks and freeze for at least an hour. Then pop them into a blender until smooth. Trust me — it is the exact texture of ice cream, plus it’s vegan and dairy-free. It’s also a great way to use up overripe bananas and if you use three bananas from Tesco at 73p per kg, you’ll spend about 26p on this dessert.
